Note: I don’t agree with every idea propounded in the books and articles below. I don’t think that’s possible; some of these ideas are mutually exclusive. Still, I hope this reading list serves as a partial antidote to “liberal douchebag garofalo” type thinking.
There is plenty of hypocrisy and sloppy thinking in every philosophy, theology and ideology. In forming a view of the world, in understanding an idea, one must often rely on biased sources, tainted by their own prejudices and contradictions. This sounds terribly dispiriting but all it means is that you must read widely, experience much, and come to trust your own judgment––while allowing that you might be wrong.
